A Trip to the McNay
March 29, 2026
On a warm spring day, I traversed to one of many art institutions in San Antonio, Texas - McNay Art Museum. Brimming with heavy hitting pieces from Monet, Picasso, and O'Keeffe and bustling with underrated gems like Norman Lewis, Benny Andrews, and George Mcneil, this museum is one to visit.
These works of art encapsulate a time of wonder, creativity, and inspiration. Each piece on display tells a story and if you study it long enough you might be able to see it. Their beauty, hues, and form create an alternate reality of which you feel immersed in the painting itself. Individual works containing individual worlds.
Aside from the treasures it hosts, the museum itself is exquisite. Housed in a Spanish Colonial Revival Mansion, this museum is clad in beautiful architecture and stunning gardens dispersed with sculptures, fountains, and koi fish.
A place of beauty, calm and serene, the McNay is a dream. Relaxation, contemplation, and the art of wander are all possible here.
From me to you,
xx
