The Essence of Less

If you had to start your wardrobe from scratch, where would you start? If you could only bring 12 items from your closet with you, what would you bring? I have been pondering these questions and boy is it hard. I love fashion. I'm quite the sucker for it. So, to answer these questions I really had to think. Now, I must say that I will not be mentioning statement pieces, shoes, bags, or accessories because that's a whole different post within itself (& we'd be here forever), however, these basics are some things that I would immediately repurchase/take with me.
1. White Button Down
I love love love button-downs and I honestly just started this newfound love. The versatility and likeness of this piece urge me to bring it along.
2. Denim Jacket
Jean jackets are one of the most worn clothing items in my closet. Invest in a solid denim jacket and you'll be sure to get your money’s worth.
3. Denim Skirt
Sticking to the denim train, a denim skirt is one of my fav things to wear. Essentially, it's like wearing jeans but in a skirt form. I would definitely have to bring both of my denim skirts with me.
4. LBD
Is your wardrobe really complete if you don't have a little black dress? The versatility of this item is immaculate so much so that I wrote a blog post about it.
5. Baggy Jeans
I have been a fan of "Mom Jeans" before they were a trend. I love the fit of this style on my frame and the overall silhouette transitions easily in my wardrobe.
6. Flared Pants
In short, I love flared pants, and they’re soooo comfy,!
7. Cargo Pants
Cargos are basically jeans to me. You can pair them with ANYTHING!
8. Bandeaux Tops/Bralettes
IBTC member here and bralettes are tops. You can't tell me otherwise!
9. Black Bodysuit
I've gotten so much wear out of plain black bodysuits in both long-sleeved and short-sleeved.
10. Track pants
Super easy and stylish.
11. Overalls
I literally stan overalls and all the many things that come with it.
12. Corset
A corset brings an intricate factor to any look.
Essentially, these are things that I would look for first, but I appreciate all my clothes equally. Thinking about your list may help you declutter and reframe your wardrobe. Just some food for thought. Until next time.
