Your Guide to Tropical Vacation Wear
Cocoa Beach, FL
May 8, 2022
I love tropical vacations and anything that requires swimsuits, sand, and mojitos. I mean who doesn't?
I like to think that I am an expert on packing for tropical vacays because any chance I get, I'm booking a flight or driving a car to my next beach getaway. Here is what I always pack:
1. Swimsuits
This is uber obvious, but it's important to note that you should feel beautiful, sexy, and comfortable in your swimsuit. You don't want to feel self-conscious or always tugging away at the strings. Having a bikini, one-piece, or high-waisted swimsuit that you feel confident in is key.
2. Coverups
A cover-up can be used in a multitude of ways and can be a multitude of things. Scarves, overalls, and button-downs can all be used as a coverup and double as their own outfit.
3. Straw Hat
Ok, so I just got on the straw hat wave and it has CHANGED my life! Not only does it add another element to your outfit, something interesting to the eye, but it also shades/protects you from the sun -- one thing that's always plentiful during a tropical vacation.
4. Beachy Tote Bags
This is also an obvious one, yet I feel it is criminally underrated. This bag can be used as your personal item on the plane, a beach bag at the beach, and a carry-all tote for sightseeing and other affairs.
5. Two in One Outfit
I wasn't sure how to label this one, but essentially any item that can double as two outfits. For example, I have this gorgeous silk maxi skirt that I wear both as a skirt and a dress, and love it both ways. This will take the pressure off deciding what to wear when you just want to be casual or effortless.
6. Flowy Maxi Dresses
Speaking of dresses, a flowy maxi will be your best friend on vacation. They read as elegant and effortless and will keep you cool during sweltering temps.
7. Button Downs
Did you really think I was going to forget the most basic item of all? A buttondown will surely be put to use during this trip in more ways than one. As stated above, it can be us as a coverup, a jacket, a shirt, and so much more. I've learned my lesson to always pack a white button-down (a plus if it's linen!) As always, I stan a button-down.
8. Romper
Hear me out, rompers go hard. Besides the fact that you have to push it all the way down when you use the restroom, rompers absolutely slap! They're their own outfit and you always look cute and put together in this piece.
9. Cute Athleisure Set
Firstly, I am not the girl that works out on vacation. I can't relate. However, I am adding this because previously one of my Nike "workout" sets came in handy when I decided to rock climb at my resort. These sets will absolutely come in handy if you plan on doing any physical activity like ATV'ing, ziplining, rock climbing, or anything in between. Even if you don't think so, bring it JIC (just in case).
10. Comfy Sneakers
These will be LIFE SAVERS! Sometimes an outfit (or activity) doesn't call for cute sandals or beautiful heels. Save your feet and pack your comfiest sneakers.
11. Silk Scarves
Now, these scarves don't necessarily have to be real silk, however, they would feel better. Bringing scarves will help with bad hair days when you're not feeling bothered, or to spruce up an outfit.
12. Seashell Bag
This is for the seashell connoisseurs and lovers. Bring an extra bag to protect your precious shells if you love to collect a lot of these beauties.
I hope this was helpful for your next beach getaway! Until next time.
